THE
SUN HOUSE
Built in the late 1860s by a Scottish spice merchant this hilltop
mansion that overlooks Galle harbour would have allowed the
owner to see clippers arriving from his native Scotland. Continuing
to enjoy the same views The Sun House has recently undergone
extensive restoration and now unquestionably heads the boutique

All rooms are furnished with antique 4-poster beds, have
en suite bathrooms with showers and overhead fans that is
combined with the cool air flowing up from the Indian Ocean
which keeps the rooms cool. There are 6 rooms in all, gracefully
led by The Cinnamon Suite occupies the whole of the first
floor with a private sitting room / library. The sitting room
looks east and offers the early riser with a spectacular sunrise
over the distant hills and jungle. At the west end of the
suite a private balcony provides the perfect place for sundowners.
The suite has been described as one of the most beautiful
rooms in the world by Conde Nast Traveller Magazine. The Sun
House is managed by food enthusiasts who have lived in Europe
and Asia and with a daily changing menu all meals are made
using fresh produce.
The managers will discuss with you each morning what will
be your pleasure for lunch and dinner. The Sun House is a

Cinnamon Suite'. 'Araliya' - a large double room opening onto
the main verandah and franjipani garden. 'Sun and Sky', 'Kingfisher',
'Hibiscus', and 'Parrotfish' are double rooms that open onto
the mango garden with stunning views across the Galle harbour.
