Sri Lanka Classic Tour – 12 Days Tour

Day 01 | Airport > Negombo

Arrive at Colombo International Airport and proceed to Negombo and check into the hotel.

Day 02 | Negombo > Panduwasnuwara > Anuradhapura ( B )

After the breakfast at the hotel, visit Panduwasnuwara. Thereafter proceed to Anuradhapura. On arrival to Anuradhapura explore the Sacred city. On completion of the day check into the hotel in Anuradhapura.

Day 03 | Anurdhapura > Polonnaruwa > Minneriya > Sigiriya ( B )

After the breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to Polonnaruwa. Thereafter proceed to Minneriya to go on a Jeep Safari in the Minneriya National Park. On completion of the day proceed to Sigiriya and check into the hotel.

Day 04 | Sigiriya > Matale > Kandy ( B )

After the breakfast in Sigiriya visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Thereafter proceed to Kandy, en route make a pause at Matale and visit a Spice Garden. After checking into the hotel in Kandy, go on a technical tour and watch the Kandyan Cultural Show in the evening. On completion return to the hotel.

Day 05 | Kandy > Nuwara Eliya ( B )

After the breakfast in Kandy visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Thereafter proceed to Nuwara Eliya, en-route make a stop at Ramboda Falls and visit a tea factory and plantation. Thereafter check into the hotel in Nuwara Eliya. Explore the scenic city of Nuwara Eliya in the evening and return back to the hotel.

Day 06 | Nuwara Eliya > Horton Plains > Nuwara Eliya ( B )

With a packed breakfast at the hotel go on trekking to Horton Plains. On completion return to the hotel.

Day 07 | Nuwra Eliya > Ella > Yala ( B )

After the breakfast at the hotel, check out and proceed to Ella and enjoy the Scenic Ella. Thereafter proceed to Yala and check into the hotel.

Day 08 | Yala > Yala ( B )

Early in the morning proceed to the Yala National Park to go on a full day safari. On completion return back to the hotel.

Day 09 | Yala > Yala ( B )

After the breakfast at the hotel, check out and proceed to Hikkaduwa. en-route visit the Rekawa Turtle Hatchery. Thereafter proceed to Galle and visit the Old Colonial city of Galle. On completion, proceed to Hikkaduwa and check in to the hotel in Hikkaduwa.

Day 10 | Hikkaduwa > Hikkaduwa ( B )

Spend the day leisurely, enjoying the hotel facilities and the beach

Day 11 | Hikkaduwa > Bentota > Hikkaduwa ( B )

After the breakfast proceed to Balapitiya and go on a lovely boat safari.  Thereafter visit the Lunuganga Estate. On completion return to the hotel and relax.

Day 12 | Hikkaduwa > Airport ( B )

After the breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to the airport.

Panduwasnuwara

Explore the ancient kingdom of Panduwasnuwara, which was briefly the capital during the 12th century. Wander amongst the ruins of the city with its pagodas, image houses, meeting halls and the citadel. Visit the now restored former temple of the tooth relic, which lies just outside the citadel’s walls. View the palace and listen to the many legends that surround it.

Anuradhapura

Walk through the ancient ruined city of Anuradhapura, which was the capital for over a millennium until the 10th century AD. View the pagodas, monastic buildings and ponds that are scatter all over the vast area. Visit important landmarks such as Jetavanarama, which was one of the tallest buildings of the ancient world, the Sri Maha Bodhi and the ruins of the huge Abhayagiri Monastery. Gain more knowledge about Sri Lanka’s history as you walk in the footsteps of Kings.

Polonnaruwa

Visit the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, which was the second major capital of Sri Lanka. Walk through the ruins of the city that flourished between the 10th to the 13th century AD. View important monuments such as Gal Vihara, Vatadage, the lotus bath, Lankathilaka Temple and the statue of King Parakramabahu whose reign was considered the golden age of Polonnaruwa. Get to know more about Sri Lanka’s ancient history.

Minneriya Safari

This Safari takes you on a ride through the Minneriya National Park. Enjoy the sight of over 150 elephants congregating in one place during the famous Great Elephant Gathering, which happens in the dry season between May to October. In addition to elephants, get a chance to also see many mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians in the scrublands, forests and other areas.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress

Climb the 5th century AD rock fortress, Sigiriya, where the King Kasyapa ruled. Walk through the entrance framed by the paws of a lion that is quite appropriate for its name, ‘ the Lion Rock’. View the beautiful unfading murals that brought Sigiriya its fame. Climb the steep staircase to see the terraced gardens and still-working cisterns. Walk through the tunnels leading to the palace as you get a feel for times long past.

Matale Spice Gardens

Euphoria Spice and Herbal is located 12 km away from Matale (The spice capital of Sri Lanka). Enriched with herbs, spice groves and plants with fragrant greenery shading from the tropical trees that enlightens the unique aroma of each spice and herb. We give the opportunity for our visitors to explore and gain knowledge on Sri Lankan spices, herbs and the benefits of Ayurveda. The tropical climate in which our plants and herbs are grown helps them preserve its ancient originality. The educational tour around the garden, which we call “The Spice Tour”, let the visitors feel the sensation of the Sri Lankan spices and herbs which is demonstrated in different foreign languages to suit our customer need.

Technical Tours

Go on technical tours related to arts such as gem crafting, woodcarving and batiks and watch the Kandyan Cultural Show with its colorful traditional dances and delightful music.

Cultural Show

The Kandy Cultural Show gives an opportunity to experience some of the traditions of Sri Lanka. Enjoy this hour long extravaganza as some of the most popular art forms of the island take to the stage. Get wowed by fire dancers and sword dancers. Watch the colorful Kandyan dancers take to the air to the thrumming primal beat of the drums.

Temple of the Tooth Relic

Visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic a UNESCO World Heritage Site which was built in the 16th century as the place of veneration and protection for Lord Buddha’s sacred tooth. Walk through the beautifully embellished passageways and elaborately painted halls, done in red, cream and black. Lounge against delicately carved pillars and get amazed by the beautiful golden statues. Get an unforgettable experience of history and art.

Ramboda Falls

Ramboda Falls is the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and located by the Pussellawa. Ramboda falls consists of three sections. You will get a good view of the middle section from the A5 highway, just above the bridge. This is very small in size with compared to other parts. You can get a far view of the top part from the main road, but not the complete view of the fall. You need to climb up to see the top part of the Ramboda falls and there is a pathway just before the bridge. You may find the climbing bit difficult, but you will be compensated with the great view of the top fall and the surrounding.

Tea Factory

Visit a Tea Factory and a plantation where you would see how the world’s famous “Ceylon Tea” is manufactured. In 1824 a tea plant was brought to Ceylon by the British from China and was planted in the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya for non-commercial purposes. James Taylor was a British citizen who introduced commercial tea plantation in Sri Lanka (Ceylon). He arrived to Sri Lanka in 1852 and settled down in Loolecondera estate in Kandy. Today even people who have never heard of Sri Lanka are familiar with Ceylon tea, which is known for its quality.

Nuwara Eliya

Visit the highland city that was the premium holiday resort town of the British in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Enjoy walking through the streets with their pretty little cottages, quaint villas and beautiful mansions. Make a memory in the old red-bricked post office as you purchase an inexpensive and colorful postcard to take home or send to your friends. Relax at Queen Victoria Park or on the shores of Lake Gregory.

Horton Plains

Visit the beautiful Horton Plains National Park in Ohiya, with its montane grasslands and cloud forests. Enjoy the majestic views from the precipice of World’s End and the cooling sprays from Baker’s Falls. Catch glimpses of the many endemic fauna that make their home in the plains. Get to know more about the archeological finds that were discovered in the area.

Ella

Enjoy Ella’s most interesting places. Pass through bright green tea fields, and tough stretches of rock, and get to see the magical views of Little Adam’s Peak. Walk over the history seeped Nine Arches Bridge and listen to the story of its construction. End your hike at the Demodara Railway station with its unique loop-over track design. This tour gives you the chance to see the best sights of Sri Lanka.

Yala Safari

This amazing three hour Safari offers the opportunity to visit Yala National Park, the second largest in the island based off the Southeastern coast of Sri Lanka. Get a chance to see the famous Sri Lankan leopards, indigenous wild water buffalo, Sri Lankan Sloth Bear and large herds of Sri Lankan Elephants. The park is also home to many other species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and invertebrates.

Rekawa Turtle Hatchery

Learn more about the five kinds of endangered sea turtles that visit the shores of Sri Lanka and their conservation. Do the night time turtle watch, and have a chance to see turtles come to nest. Have fun volunteering for a few hours at the Rekawa Turtle Hatchery.

Hummanaya Blow Hole

Explore the wonders of the Hummanaya, which could possibly be the second largest blowhole in the world. Watch the impressive spraying fountain of sea water near the village of Kudawella that is part of Sri Lanka’s natural geology. Listen to the deep humming noise that gives the Hummanaya its name.

Galle Fort Guided Walking Tour

Explore the secrets of Galle where the Portuguese and Dutch made their headquarters. Visit the Galle Fort which is one of the best preserved fortifications in Asia. View the museums of Galle and the lighthouse. Walk through the cobblestoned streets with their Dutch names and listen to your guide tell their stories. Hikkaduwa

Relax with coconut palms and sea on the sunny white beaches of Hikkaduwa, a tropical paradise based off Southern Sri Lanka. Enjoy water sports at the second best surfing coast of the island. Watch the colorful coral reefs at the Hikkaduwa Coral Sanctuary. Party with some of the best nightlife in Sri Lanka.

Madu River

Go on a wonderful boat ride down the Madu River with its flourishing ecosystem. Pass through the secretive passages created by the mangroves. See the basking crocodiles and water monitors. Visit one of the small islands with its cinnamon harvesting natives. Enjoy the restorative qualities of the famous fish massage. Observe the waterbirds in their natural habitats.

Lunuganga Estate

Visit the country home of the famous Sri Lankan architect Sir Geoffrey Bawa. Do a two-hour tour of its uniquely designed gardens and the sections of the home that are open to the public. See his signature design style that made Bawa possibly the best architect in the history of modern Sri Lanka.
