11 Nights 12 Days – Option 05

Experience the nature and history in one visit to the Paradise Island. Visit the city of Ruins, Polonnaruwa and spend the day amon ghte historic site learning about the ancient stories wrapped around them. Walk in the last Kingdom of Sri Lanka, which houses the Tooth Relic of the Lord Buddha. Get a chance to witness over 500 elephants in the Minneriya National Park at the world famous Elephant Gathering. Explore the hills covered in greenery in Nuwara Eliya and walk among the freezing plains of Horton. Finally, feel the warmth of the sun in the southern coast emjoying the sun setting into the Horizon marking the end of the day and the tour till next time.

Day 01 | Airport > Negombo

Arrive at Colombo International Airport. Thereafter proceed to Negombo and check into the hotel in Negombo.

Day 02 | Negombo > Pinnawala > Dambulla > Sigirya ( B )

After the breakfast check out from the hotel and visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Thereafter proceed to Dambulla and visit the cave temple. On completion proceed to Sigiriya and check into the hotel in Sigiriya.

Day 03 | Sigiriya > Minneriya > Sigiriya ( B )

After the breakfast at the hotel, visit the Ancient Kingdom of Polonnaruwa. Thereafter proceed to Minneriiya for the evening safari. On completion return back to the hotel.

Day 04 | Sigiriya > Matale >  Kandy ( B )

After the breakfast at the hotel check out and visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Thereafter proceed to Kandy, en-route make a pause at Matale, visit a Spice Garden. Thereafter continue to Kandy and check into the hotel and relax. Later go on a technical tour and watch the Kandyan Cultural Show. On completion return to the hotel and relax.

Day 05 | Kandy  > Kandy ( B )

After the breakfast visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Thereafter proceed to Peradeniya and visit the Royal Botanical Garden. Then, go on a technical tour and watch the Kandyan Cultural Show. On completion return back to the hotel.

Day 06 | Kandy > Nuwara Eliya ( B )

After the breakfast in Kandy visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Thereafter proceed to Nuwara Eliya, en-route make a stop at Ramboda Falls and visit a tea factory and plantation. Thereafter proceed to Nuwara Eliya and check in to the hotel. Explore the city of Nuwara Eliya in the evening and return back to the hotel.

Day 07 | Nuwara Eliya > Horton Plains > Nuwara Eliya ( B )

With a packed breakfast go on a hike in the plains of Horton. After the hike return to the hotel and relax. Later in the evening visit the Seetha Amman Kovil. On completion return back to the hotel.

Day 08 | Nuwara Eliya > Haputale > Ella ( B )

After the breakfast at the hotel check out and proceed to Haputale and enjoy the scenic views. On completion proceed to Ella, check into the hotel in Ella.

Day 09 | Ella > Udawalawa ( B )

After an early breakfast in the morning explore the city of Ella. Thereafter check out from the hotel and proceed to Udawalawe and check into the hotel in Udawalawa. Later go on an evening jeep safari in the Udawalawe National Park. On completion return back to the hotel.

Day 10 | Udawalawa > Galle ( B )

After the breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to Galle, en-route make a pause at Rekawa and visit the Turtle Hatchery. Thereafter proceed to Koggala and visit the captivating sight of fishermen. Then continue to Galle and check in to the hotel. Later in the evening visit the Old Colonial City of Galle. On completion return to the hotel and relax.

Day 11 | Galle > Colombo ( B )

After the breakfast, check out from the hotel in Galle and proceed to Colombo and go on a City and Shopping Tour. On completion check into the hotel in Colombo.

Day 12 | Colombo > BIA ( B )

With packed breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to the airport.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is the home for young Elephants who have been displaced or lost from their natural habitat, located at Pinnawala village in Sabaragamuwa province of Sri Lanka. Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage is the best place for an up close and personal experience with the world’s largest land mammals! Today with 70 elephants herein, Pinnawela has become the home to the largest captive group of elephants in the world.

Dambulla Cave Temple

Enter the historic caves of the Golden Temple of Dambulla, dating back to the 1st century BC. View the ancient murals depicting the life story of Lord Gautama Buddha. Look at the hundreds of figurines of Buddha and other deities scattered throughout the five main caves. Visit the Cave of the Divine King, Cave of the Great King and the Great New Monastery. See the giant golden Buddha Statue just a little distance outside the cave complex.

Polonnaruwa

Visit the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, which was the second major capital of Sri Lanka. Walk through the ruins of the city that flourished between the 10th to the 13th century AD. View important monuments such as Gal Vihara, Vatadage, the lotus bath, Lankathilaka Temple and the statue of King Parakramabahu whose reign was considered the golden age of Polonnaruwa. Get to know more about Sri Lanka’s ancient history.

Minneriya Safari

This safari takes you on a ride through the Minneriya National Park. Enjoy the sight of over 150 elephants congregating in one place during the famous Great Elephant Gathering, which happens in the dry season between May to October. In addition to elephants, get a chance to also see many mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians in the scrublands, forests and other areas.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress

Climb the 5th century AD rock fortress, Sigiriya, where the King Kasyapa ruled. Walk through the entrance framed by the paws of a lion that is quite appropriate for its name, ‘ the Lion Rock’. View the beautiful unfading murals that brought Sigiriya its fame. Climb the steep staircase to see the terraced gardens and still-working cisterns. Walk through the tunnels leading to the palace as you get a feel for times long past.

Matale Spice Gardens

Euphoria Spice and Herbal is located 12 km away from Matale (The spice capital of Sri Lanka). Enriched with herbs, spice groves and plants with fragrant greenery shading from the tropical trees that enlightens the unique aroma of each spice and herb. We give the opportunity for our visitors to explore and gain knowledge on Sri Lankan spices, herbs and the benefits of Ayurveda. The tropical climate in which our plants and herbs are grown helps them preserve its ancient originality. The educational tour around the garden, which we call “The Spice Tour”, let the visitors feel the sensation of the Sri Lankan spices and herbs which is demonstrated in different foreign languages to suit our customer need.

Temple of the Tooth Relic

Visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic a UNESCO World Heritage Site which was built in the 16th century as the place of veneration and protection for Lord Buddha’s sacred tooth. Walk through the beautifully embellished passageways and elaborately painted halls, done in red, cream and black. Lounge against delicately carved pillars and get amazed by the beautiful golden statues. Get an unforgettable experience of history and art.

Royal Botanical Gardens

Visit the famous Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya, which were formed in the early 19th century. Walk through the vast area containing over 4000 species of plants. Enjoy the learning more about the orchids, spices and medicinal plants. Wander down avenues shaded by large and rare trees, or bordered by flowering plants. Enjoy seeing the cannonball tree, walking over the wobbly suspension bridge and through the short hedge mazes or even climbing the twisty trees that make wonderful jungle gyms.

Technical Tours

Go on technical tours related to arts such as gem crafting, woodcarving and batiks and watch the Kandyan Cultural Show with its colorful traditional dances and delightful music.

Cultural Show

The Kandy Cultural Show gives an opportunity to experience some of the traditions of Sri Lanka. Enjoy this hour long extravaganza as some of the most popular art forms of the island take to the stage. Get wowed by fire dancers and sword dancers. Watch the colorful Kandyan dancers take to the air to the thrumming primal beat of the drums.

Ramboda Falls

Ramboda Falls is the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and located by the Pussellawa. Ramboda falls consists of three sections. You will get a good view of the middle section from the A5 highway, just above the bridge. This is very small in size with compared to other parts. You can get a far view of the top part from the main road, but not the complete view of the fall. You need to climb up to see the top part of the Ramboda falls and there is a pathway just before the bridge. You may find the climbing bit difficult, but you will be compensated with the great view of the top fall and the surrounding.

Tea Factory

Visit a Tea Factory and a plantation where you would see how the world’s famous “Ceylon Tea” is manufactured. In 1824 a tea plant was brought to Ceylon by the British from China and was planted in the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya for non-commercial purposes. James Taylor was a British citizen who introduced commercial tea plantation in Sri Lanka (Ceylon). He arrived to Sri Lanka in 1852 and settled down in Loolecondera estate in Kandy. Today even people who have never heard of Sri Lanka are familiar with Ceylon tea, which is known for its quality.

Nuwara Eliya

Visit the highland city that was the premium holiday resort town of the British in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Enjoy walking through the streets with their pretty little cottages, quaint villas and beautiful mansions. Make a memory in the old red-bricked postoffice as you purchase an inexpensive and colorful postcard to take home or send to your friends. Relax at Queen Victoria Park or on the shores of Lake Gregory.

Horton Plains

Visit the beautiful Horton Plains National Park in Ohiya, with its montane grasslands and cloud forests. Enjoy the majestic views from the precipice of World’s End and the cooling sprays from Baker’s Falls. Catch glimpses of the many endemic fauna that make their home in the plains. Get to know more about the archeological finds that were discovered in the area.

Haputale

Explore the most famous landmarks of Haputale. Visit Lipton’s seat, one of the most famed observation points in Sri Lanka, which gives views of the Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Eastern Provinces. Roam over the grounds of Adisham Bungalow, a beautiful Tudor mansion built in the early 1900s. View the neo-gothic architecture of St Andrews church, walk through its graveyard which is the resting place of many British tea planters, and much more. This is a great opportunity to relax and enjoy the calming beauty of Haputale and its sights.

Ella

Explore Ella’s most interesting places. Pass through bright green tea fields, and tough stretches of rock, and get to see the magical views of Little Adam’s Peak. Walk over the history seeped Nine Arches Bridge and listen to the story of its construction. End your hike at the Demodara Railway station with its unique loop-over track design. This tour gives you the chance to see the best sights of Sri Lanka.

Udawalawe Safari

Enjoy a three-hour safari which would give you a chance to explore the amazing Udawalawe National Park. Travel through the marshes, forests and grasslands of the park that was created as a sanctuary for wildlife in the 1970s. See the water birds and Sri Lankan elephants for which the park is famed. Catch glimpses of the other mammals and birds, as well as the reptiles, amphibians and butterflies.

Rekawa Turtle Hatchery

Learn more about the five kinds of endangered sea turtles that visit the shores of Sri Lanka and their conservation. Do the night time turtle watch, and have a chance to see turtles come to nest. Have fun volunteering for a few hours at the Rekawa Turtle Hatchery.

Koggala Stilt Fishermen

Watch the captivating sight of fishermen perched on stilts in the waters along the coast of Koggala. Hear the stories of how stilt fishing came to Sri Lanka, from the mouths of the fishermen who have practiced the craft for generations. Learn how the stilt fishing is done in detail and marvel at the level of skill that goes into it. Get some amazing photographs of the fishermen silhouetted against the shoreline at sunset.

Galle Fort Guided Walking Tour

Explore the secrets of Galle where the Portuguese and Dutch made their headquarters. Visit the Galle Fort which is one of the best preserved fortifications in Asia. View the museums of Galle and the lighthouse. Walk through the cobblestoned streets with their Dutch names and listen to your guide tell their stories. Relax with a king coconut or a cup of tea caressed by a breeze of the tropics.

Colombo

Experience the colorful lights and bright life of Colombo, the capital City of Sri Lanka. Visit historic monuments such as the Old Lighthouse, the Old Parliament, Galle Face Hotel, Galle Face Green, Gangarama Temple, the National Museum and more. Enjoy the malls of Independence Square or the Race Course. Visit boutique shops and designer stores. Enjoy the nightlife as you party till the morning.
